The 2023 Winter Olympics is an upcoming international multi-sport event that will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The host cities were announced on 24 June 2019 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). These will be the second Winter Olympics to be held in Italy, after the 1956 Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The IOC Evaluation Commission report for Milan–Cortina noted that both candidate cities had “outstanding” overall presentations, with each city possessing unique strengths. In particular, the Commission praised Milan’s compactness and transport infrastructure while it lauded Cortina’s “exceptional natural beauty.” The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in Calgary, Canada.
